We bought our dinner tonight and I realized that it costs more than my whole 5 day budget for Live Below the Line on Monday: $10.
The cost of (a part of) one night's dinner is five times more than what 1.6 billion people have to eat every single day. The thought of it makes me feel queasy.
I did some preliminary research on how much stuff is going to cost for when Tori, Sharon and I go shopping tomorrow afternoon. We have 5 people on our team so far so that means we have a budget of $50 to spend between the 5 of us. It means we will have a lot more options of what we get to eat, but our daily food spending is still going to be under $2.
If anyone is interested, here is a list of the cheapest foods available at your local Coles.
Live Below the Line starts next week, from May 6th to 10th! You can sponsor me here, and you can choose to make your donations tax deductible. All support will help to provide schools, teacher training, books and bicycles for young people who live in extreme poverty. Any amount would be appreciated. Or, even better - join the challenge and sign up here!
On another note, the Battle of Hogwarts occurred fifteen years ago...
and here is what I had for breakfast today (:
Toasted muesli with Greek yoghurt, walnuts, figs, pineapple, kiwi, raspberry + a cheeky dollop of dulce du leche. (;
